2005 Hammerhead Olympic Triathlon Race Report...

Location = Camp Blanding, Stuart Florida
Distance = 1500m swim, 24.8 mile bike, 6.2 mile run

Distances were a bit off, swim was a bit long...about 350 meters long, so that starts you off on the wrong note. So, exit the water in about 32 minutes. Very slow time, but 13/26 in the age group. I drafted the whole time, which was very nice.

Bike...course description says "rolly-polly" I think that would be easy, short hills. Not this course. Long, slow inclines, a few steep, and short, hills. Course was a two-loop course, but no cars. Really hammered away after about 4 miles or so. Felt good to go really hard, knowing that I didn't have much to worry about after the bike was over. Passed plenty of people, and didn't get passed by many. Very nice. Bike AG place - 7th.

Run...described as flat and fast. Negative. It had a few very hard hills, and I swear it was long. But I got through it with the 5th fastest AG time, which was nice. Very hard run course, and I was glad it was over. It was getting very very hot out there.
