Obstacles...

Everyone, whenever they set a goal for themselves, encounters obstacles along the way. This IM has been no different. I'm going to list them below, not to brag, but so I don't forget what they were. This has not been an easy journey, and now that we KNOW this race will happen (Hurricane Wilma almost screwed that up), we're ready to go...

- Homecoming 2004...lots of time/energy spent
- New Year's 2005...in Jacksonville alone, stomach virus
- SAA Interviews...out for a week
- February 27...Dad died, out for about 2.5 weeks
- Hit by a truck on bike (hit and run)...out 3 weeks
- C&P Interviews AND Leadership Conference...out all week (Sept 26-Oct 1)
- Last day at FSU (Oct. 3)
- Move to Tampa (Week of October 5)
- Start new job (October 10)
RACE WEEK
Oct 12...niece born
Bessie out of town this whole week (race week)
Stomach virus
got a cold
back started to clear up (thankfully)
Hurricane Wilma stress

I can't wait to cross the finish line...

First week on the job...

So, after a little over one week on the new job, here's a summary:
- there will be lots of phone calls
- there will be lots of rejection/no-call backs
- there will be some success
- you don't need TONS of success to be successful
- this is an inherantly "common sense" job, to me
- there are lots of things I do not have that much common sense with
- I will be very good at this job once I figure out what I'm doing

I love the office, all co-workers are very friendly and helpful, which is a relief. Lots of training up to this point, but that is okay with me, since I know nothing about recruiting. But I'll be figuring things out soon enough.

More later...

My last day...

So, today was my last day at FSU. What a way to end...here's a summary...

Last Monday, SAA Meeting, one of the best as they split into groups and learned about FSU.
Tuesday, Chief interviews until 1AM
Wednesday, princess interviews until 1.30AM
Thursday, princess interviews until 1.30AM, then worked until 4AM...
Friday, up at 6AM for Leadership Weekend...made some presentations, and got a couple of standing ovations, which was nice. Lots of nice things said about me, which (of course) everyone likes!
Saturday, work until noon. Skipped the football game and stayed home.
Monday...last SAA Meeting. Great way to end.

Got some cards, and they gave $500+ to Dad's fund. Really incredible. Had plenty of SAA Alumni come back, unfortunately only locals, but that's okay. I was glad they came...it meant a lot. About 20 or so alumni came back. Very nice.

Got choked up just at the end of my speech and when they gave me the money.

A great way to end my time at FSU...
